I Love School Supplies

A lot of people thought I got a raw deal having a birthday right around the start of the school year. It’s harder to do a party that time of the year and maybe they assumed well-meaning relatives and friends would give me practical gifts for school. But I have loved school supplies since as far back as I can remember and would often request gifts like fancy pens, a gift certificate to Books a Million or Barnes & Noble, or a new typewriter (yes! I am the big nerd at 12 who wanted a typewriter). When I was really little, my favorite pretend play games were “office” (modeling myself after what I saw when my mom would take me to work) and “school” (where I was always the teacher). I loved toys like the Speak & Spell (and the math equivalent) and played the Nintendo version of Jeopardy so much I eventually memorizes all the answers.

Today, I still LOVE school and office supplies. Here is a pic of SOME of the different types of paper I keep on hand for just for homeschooling. It would be daunting to show it all, truly. I won’t even attempt to show my huge collection of pens, colored pencils, markers, etc. in my home office.
